We have come a long way, you and I but I am grateful for your part in my life. You raised me to be the woman I am today and I am grateful. You are at the helm of my strong character, which you also had to endure.
I have seen you fight your battles, the ones you can not talk about but which ooze from every sigh and expression. I thank God you were there for us, even though I wish you were more present. I understand it might not have been your thing or was it toxic masculinity or you not thinking it was not important enough. The special days you missed, the most crucial moments you postponed. It took away a part of my trust each time.
I hope one day we get to sit down together and talk, discuss and understand each other. To make amends and build an authentic relationship. A relationship not bound by blood but also by mutual trust.
